MOT TEST

At last my vehicle Mot certificate is in my grasp Open-mouthed. After weeks of renovation on my vehicle:- total undercarriage wax coat, every nut and bolt checked cleaned and greased. Brakes checked and adjusted to maximum efficiency. Tyres checked for tread, cleaned and black-walled. Oil, fuel and air filters all renewed (including oil change). Bodywork washed, colour restored and polished. Interior vacuumed, cleaned and polished, Windscreen and windows all cleaned so that you couldn't even tell they were fitted,  the reward for all that hard work is a piece of green coloured A4 paper that cost me nearly £55 Money Crying ($110) and tells me that my vehicle now has the minimum?? legal requirements to be allowed to be driven on the public highway,  Where's me Trophy!!?? I deserve some sort of recognition for all that hard work!!!Gift with a bow.. I suppose I will just have to settle for the feeling of satisfaction and the knowledge that my vehicle is (or should I say was,) 'fit for the road'. I say 'was' because it is only deemed 'fit' at the time when the vehicle was examined in accordance with section 45 of the road traffic act 1988. As soon as it leaves the MOT station there is no guarantee that it will pass again. What a swizz!!!Confused
I should now have a bit more time for the comp and for visiting a few friends spaces to see what is going on in the world.
Best Wishes.

The rat race

Life seems so hectic at the moment, my last blog referred to the repair of my big daughters vehicle and the feeling of accomplishment after our repair and when it was up and  running on the road again, unfortunately the repair didn't last and within a day it had broken down again. It seemed to be the same thing! so once again we removed  the gearbox to find that the part that had broken before was not actually broken this time but had somehow come loose. For those that know about vehicles the part referred to was the 'clutch pivot arm'.  My big daughters partner (my brother-in-law) assisted me with the repair (or should I say I assisted him...lol...).  We also put a new clutch and 'thrust bearing' in when we first repaired it so could not understand why the 'pivot arm' had come loose. Anyway, after once again refitting all parts we tested it ''round the block'' and it broke down again before we had even reached base, ''back to the drawing board''. We decided to have one last go, by now we are quite proficient at removing the gearbox and all the relevant parts that need removing and although still being quite a big job it was dismantled in less than an hour. This time a new 'Slave cylinder' was purchased and fitted and the 'master cylinder' given a complete overhaul, so far, 10 days later, it is still running OK and looks like it is cured, (touch wood...lol...).
I am still trying to prepare my own vehicle for it's MOT so work on that is ongoing, Daughter Kes has started at her new school and seems to be settling in well, she has also restarted her artistic roller skating after the summer break.  Grandson Danny's football team has started their new season in the 1st division with a 1-0 win, unfortunately I missed the match as I was attending my youngest Grandsons Christening at the time. Middle daughter is expecting a new Granddaughter for me in December, that will make 15 in all (then again it might be 16!!? I will have to have a recount ...lol...).  My darts season is fast approaching, I have signed up to play twice a week this year, we have already had a couple of ''friendlies''  both of which we won. Brother-in-law Wayne has been home a few times for weekend leave from the army,  he has now passed his driving theory exams and will be started the driving course soon.

I, being of sound mind and body, (well almost!!), do solemnly declare this to be the reason for my absence from blogging and visiting friends on the 'Space' network...lol...

Best wishes to all
