The Party. The young lady in question has still accompanied me on many an outing and we seemed to be getting on fine until my daughter's 19th birthday party, we had all had a lot to drink and although my lady friend said '' you wont get me on that'', meaning the Karaoke, well guess what...lol... we did, and she has a good voice as well. Things progressed through the night and I'm sure a good time was had by all, guest's drifted off during the night and members of the family collapsed on their beds, soon the only ones left were myself and my lady friend, even her young son had gone to sleep in a sleeping bag in my little daughter's bedroom, she had said that she would be going home at a reasonable time, but with all the fun that was going on, and all the drinks as well, the time just seemed to fly past. I had already made allowances in case of this happening and had changed the bedsheets on my bed in case she decided to stay overnight, now dont get me wrong here, my sole intention was that she should have a good time at the party and be able to enjoy herself without the hassle of trying to get home afterwards, I of course offered to sleep on the sofa whilst she and her young son shared my bed, but this was where panic set in, there are certain things that have happened in this young lady's life, of which i am not going to disclose, that have made her very nervous of situations like this and no matter how much i tried to convince her that no harm would come to her, i believe her trust has been totally destroyed by past events.
Anyway we learnt a lot about each other in the next hour, (drink always makes it easier to speak your mind) there were a few tears and raised voices but at least we understood each other a lot better afterwards. It was decided that she was going home regardless so it was on the phone for a taxi. Now i thought that there would be no problem getting a taxi at that hour of the morning, i mean who in their right mind is out at 2 in the morning, well that seems to include taxi drivers as well, because after phoning around several firms there seemed to be none available, so the only option left was 'stay or walk'........
I must admit it was quite a walk but i couldn't let her walk home on her own could I!! not at that time of the morning anyway, the young lady woke her son, and i decided it best to get that pushchair out again because i didn't think he would appreciate the walk home, my little daughter accompanied us, good job she did because i needed someone to push the pushchair whilst i tried to keep my lady friend in a straight line...lol... it was bad enough me trying to stay in a straight line. We got there eventually and i made sure they were safe in their home before my daughter and I began the trip back to our own house, We arrived home round about 5am but funny enough we felt fine, even after the long walk, (it must have been at least 5 miles,) must have been that fresh early morning air.
All is not lost though as i have been to see her since and she remembers very little about the evening, or so she says, and has still agreed to accompany me when i go to events such as my grandson's football game's. I have invited her to dinner on sunday, that should clinch it...... could be the final instalment on the next blog...lol. SpeedingA senior citizen in Florida bought a brand new
Corvette convertible. He took off down the road, flooring it to 80 mph enjoying the wind blowing through what little hair he had left on his head. "This is great," he thought as he roared down the highway. > He pushed the pedal to the metal even more. Then he looked in his rear view mirror and saw a highway patrol trooper behind him, blue lights flashing and siren blaring. > "I can get away from him with no problem" thought the man and he accelerated it some more and flew down the road at over 100 mph. > Then 110, 120 mph. > Then he thought, "What am I doing? I'm too old for this kind of thing." > He pulled over to the side of the road and waited for the trooper to catch up with him. > The trooper pulled in behind the Corvette and walked up to the man. "Sir," he said, looking at his watch. "My shift ends in 30 minutes and today is Friday. If you can give me a reason why you were speeding that I've never heard before, I'll let you go." > The man looked at the trooper and said, "Years ago my wife ran off with a Florida State Trooper, and I thought you were bringing her back." > "Have a good day, Sir," said the Trooper. Thanks Terri InspirationSome people inspire with their knowledge of computers and how to do certain things especially in their spaces, one of those people is Millie, to whom I owe a great debt of gratitude for the amount of knowledge she has given me to do with improving my space, and it is thanks to Millie that I endeavoured to make a slide show for my media player, which I have now completed and placed in my media player, there seems to be no end to what you can achieve with a lot of patience and the right people to guide you. I will therefore dedicate my slide show to the person who has inspired me so much. Apologies for the amount of time it takes to load, (mimimise and come back when you hear the music, may stop a couple of times on the first play but runs right through on the second play) minor adjustments may be necessary which i shall attempt at a later date.
WITH MANY THANKS TO MILLIE. ChessingtonChessington world of adventures was fine but i do hate the queues, the zoo was good as there is no queuing in there, you just stroll at your leisure, even had a trip inside the little monkey house with them jumping about over your head and scavaging for grubs under the little rocks, all sorts of birds, monkeys, lions, tigers, seals and even a little family of otters,(that was fun watching them play), a fenced off field, but open to the public, allowed us to enter and pet the goats and sheep, great fun for the little one who unfortuanately was not at all well, suffers from travel sickness and after the long journey to reach our destination it took it's toll, but all credit to the little one, he held out right until we got there and had got out of the motor before he relieved himself of his breakfast. thinking he had now recovered we ventured from the car park into the park itself, paid an enormous amount of money to enter, well worth it for the kids though, now my stomach isn't up to as many of the rides as it used to be but i was prepared to put on a brave face and go on the rides with my lady friend who had accompanied us, but what luck, she isn't too keen on the big rides either so we settled for the ones that dont turn your stomach upside down...lol... Little one wanted to have a go on the vampire ride, well you can tell by the name what sort of ride it is, fixed on tracks that rise to a fair old height, send you one way, then the other, throw you round corners at an alarming speed and all in all tries to scare the s**t out of you, well my lady friend didn't seem to be to keen to take her son on the ride so (brave face) i volunteered, now i come to the bit about the queues,, we joined at the rear and within 15 minutes we were (or so i thought) about half way, 20 ,30, 35. 40 minutes, and yes we had arrived at the front of the queue. at this point i was telling little one that he would be safe with me and that we would thoroughly enjoy ourselves when he started to look a bit pale and lowered his head to the vomit position, which is exactly what happened, after I informed the attendent that there was a bit of a mess to clear up little one decided that he didn't want to go on now...lol... at least we did get on the vampire ride, even if it was to just cross over the seats to get to the other side of the ride to reach the exit. Poor little one continued to feel poorly throughout most of the day and was sick about half a dozen times but still managed to accompany us on the rides that were not too hectic, he is such a cute child, we took a pushchair with us solely to carry the drinks and accessories but, even though he is 6 yrs old, i let him ride in the pushchair as he was feeling so bad and managed to fix all other accessories to the handles. Time progressed rapidly and soon it was 6pm, closing time for all the rides and amusements. We ventured back to the car park and then proceeded on the journey home, at the top of this blog you will recall how i hate queues, well the queuing wasn't finished yet, after joining the m25 ( the main motor way that circles London) and at first heading even further away from home as i had taken a wrong turn (added at least another 12 miles) we eventually found the next exit to enable us to turn and head in the right direction. We expected the motorway to be busy but several times i thought i had stopped in the car park again, 1 and a half hours to travel 6 miles was a bit of a joke, all was revealed further down the line,,an accident at the junction with the m23, all cleared by the time we got there, the police were just clearing the last of the cones from the two lanes (out of the normal four) that had been disabled, it finished up taking three and a half hrs to make a one and a half hr journey. We all arrived safely at home after i had dropped off my lady friend and her son, and still i am none the wiser as to how our relationship is progressing but it was a good day out so i will continue with my quest until such time as i know which way it is heading,, just hope i dont take a wrong turn like i did on the m25...lol... More stories to follow.....hopefully. |
