The Smoking Ban (part 2)

I'm at it again...lol...

£9.5 Billion ( A £2 Billion increase since the last blog in 'My Views' about 18 months ago) is donated to the government by smokers by way of taxation...(which has now been increased AGAIN in the last budget)... If every smoker quit tomorrow where would the government raise this sort of money then??? 10 or even 20p on a litre of fuel?, Vat raised to 20 % ?, 20p or more added to a pint of beer? they would have to re-coup this loss from somewhere!!!...

'' Savings would be made'' I hear you say, ''by hospitals not having to treat smoking related illnesses'' !!!... The cost of treating smoking related illnesses is estimated at £1.5 billion !!!... that leaves £8 billion!!! were does this money go??? no doubt the government are putting it to good use.. perhaps by spending it on anti smoking campaigns!!!

I have given a bit of thought to this and I reckon the government should lift the ban on smoking and actually cut the taxes on cigarettes. (this will encourage smokers to 'stay' with them)... Change their 'Anti smoking' campaign and encourage people to smoke instead...    If they manage to get twice the amount of smokers they will greatly increase their revenue and help the economy recover twice as quick...

Better still...  Passing a law that would make smoking compulsory would be an even better idea as that way the economy could almost recover within a few months..

It is estimated that 1 in 4 people smoke... so that £8 Bn profit ( remember the government is to reduce the tax) is now going to be 8 X 4... that equals £32 billion pounds.... Now multiply the cost of treating those illnesses... £1.5 Bn x 4 equals £6 Bn.... 32 - 6 = £26 Bn... so now we have increased the revenue to almost 3 times what is donated to the government at the moment... £26 Billion !!! now that's a fair amount to play with.. We will need more workers in the cigarette factories...(to cope with the extra demand)... more nurses and doctors (to cope with the extra ailments)...more ambulances, drivers and paramedics... more funeral parlours...( more building and construction workers for this one)... more grave diggers... more funeral cars (leading to more car workers)... more business for flower shops... ( which will lead to more demand for flower growers and cultivators)... the list for extra employment just goes on and on and the extra taxes our government will gain by all these extra workers will be just what the economy needs.

This will also lead to government benefits being claimed by millions less people.... It will also lead to the governments pension bill being cut drastically (as people will be dying at a much earlier age)... I can only see a win win situation for the government here.... The green party will be happy as we won't need so much 'green' space to build on..(people will be dying earlier and leaving their houses to relatives)... Traffic and accident management will be happier because of safer roads, ( more pensioners will be dying before they might cause accidents on our roads).. Home owners who live near public houses will be much happier because there will be less noise and cigarette butts outside their properties ( drinkers will once again be able to enjoy a smoke with their pint inside the premises)... pub landlords will rejoice as their business recovers to pre 'smoking ban' days...( I was going to mention non-smoking pubs here but this blog is based on smoking being compulsory...lol...)... Taxi Drivers would welcome the business back that they lost due to the smoking ban (Extra pick ups from public houses)... Entertainers would find more work as they find public houses doing more trade and enticing customers back with 'entertainment nights'...... Bingo halls would perhaps re-open and those that are still struggling and just managing to still exsist would be 'back in buisiness' again...the list is endless!!! Please feel free to add your own in the comments slot...

As a matter of fact....why don't we repeal everything that has been banned over the last 40/50years!!.. mind you...  that will take us back to the 1950's/60's... mind you again!!!.....wasn't that when everyone who lived through that period seemed happier and was allowed to run their own lives without 'Big Brother/nanny'' telling them what to do and how to do it????

The End ( For now...lol... )

That smoking ban

Makes you think !!!!
"The first modern, nationwide tobacco ban was imposed by the Nazi Party in every German university, post office, military hospital and Nazi Party office, under the auspices of Karl Astel's Institute for Tobacco Hazards Research, created in 1941 under direct orders from Adolf Hitler himself. Major anti-tobacco campaigns were widely broadcast by the Nazis until the demise of the regime in 1945."
And there was me thinking that the Nazi Party  was the only party that wanted world domination !!!!.....
they obviously hadn't heard of the modern word (''stealth'')
