This weeks reportLife has been very hectic this week, no time to blog about anything and very little time to chat on msn either. I have managed to visit a few of my friends spaces but nowhere near as much as I like to. I still managed to attend Grandson's footy match today, (hav'nt missed a game this season) Rainham 84 are getting closer to winning the championship with every match they play but other teams are so close behind, Rainham cannot afford to lose even 1 game (this weeks match report). Another good win this week helped keep the team on course. Under 12's V Under 13'sA friendly match was arranged this week for Grandsons footy team as there was no league match.
This was played against an (under 13) side, and what an amazing result ( Click here for amazing result) Army CampThe trip to see Brother-in-law Wayne at the army training camp at Royston only took just over 2 hours and that was including an 8 mile detour towards London because someone took a wrong turn
Next on the list was the Firing Range, this was an inside building where it is all done by computers, big computer screen at front and rifles wired into the system to give accurate readings, once they have passed the test on this system then they are allowed onto the open fire ranges. At the time Wayne hadn't passed this test but he text'd me the other day to inform me he had now passed his weapon handling test and is now qualified to 'handle' a gun, whether this means he can now go on the open ranges I'm not sure but whatever it means i do know he is well happy with it.
Next was the open air (still raining...lol...) camping and survival display showing us how they survive when out on manoeuvre's or in action, bivouacs erected,(which is just a waterproof canvas tied to the trees) and a showing of what is contained in their supply kits, the humour continued during this display with the corporel showing us two separate supply kits, the ordinary soldier had all the basic essentials, (foil bags containing basic food stuff), and the officers had sandwiches, chocolate, newspaper, fresh fruit, and a can of beer to round it off...lol...
Next on the list was a visit to our platoons living quarters and our first chance to give our loved ones a cuddle but that was after they had shown us all the different types of uniforms they have to wear, think there was about 6 in all and 2 different types of p e (physical education) clothes, Wayne had to display the NBC (nuclear/chemical/ballistic) uniform. After what seemed very little time with them we then had to make our way back to the gym for the indoor assualt team challange, this is where each platoon runs the indoor assault course together and the winning platoon is the one's that finish in the least time, Wayne was once again 'well happy' Korea won the event.
That was the final event and we were now allowed to take our charges out of camp till 8pm, we had to hang around for about 45 minutes waiting for them to get changed but eventually the platoons were marched to the outside of the gym and were dismissed to join their familys.
The nearest McDonalds was the best idea but after driving around for goodness knows how many miles looking for one we gave up on that idea and finished up at a Tesco cafe. We had travelled a fair few miles away from camp so thought it best (as we didn't really know the area)to return closer to camp and find a pub. We had been warned before we left camp that no alcohol was to be consumed by the trainees as they were all under the age of 18 (legal drinking age in UK) so although Wayne does like a pint he settled for coke. A few games of pool, a few drinks and the time just seemed to fly past and it was time to return Wayne to camp, must admit my eyes were quite watery when we had to leave him at the camp gates. He will be home for a long weekend in about 3 weeks so I have that to look forward to. Will leave you with a few pics to look at:::-
Female TendenciesLast month, national university of lesotho scientists released the results of a recent analysis
that revealed the presence of female hormones in beer.
Men should take a concered look at their beer consumption. The theory is that beer contains
female hormones (hops contain phytoestrogens) and that by drinking enough beer, men
turn into women.
To test the theory, 100 men drank 8 pints of beer each within a 1 hour period, it was then
observed that 100% of the test subjects acted as follows:::-
1) Argued over nothing
2) Refused to apologise when obviously wrong
3) Gained weight
4)Talked excessively without making sense
5) Became overly emotional
6) Couldnt drive
7) Failed to think rationally
8) Had to sit down to urinate
No further testing was considered necessary. hormones (hops contain phytoestrogens) and that by drinking enough beer, men Aircraft RepairsE-Mail received off a good friend:::::
Remember, it takes a college degree to fly a plane but only a high school diploma to fix one. After every flight, Qantas pilots fill out a form, called a 'gripe sheet,' which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft. The mechanics correct the problems, document their repairs on the form, and then pilots review the gripe sheets before the next flight. Never let it be said that ground crews lack a sense of humour. Here are some actual maintenance complaints submitted by Qantas' pilots (marked with a P) and the solutions recorded (marked with an S) by maintenance engineers. By the way, Qantas is the only major airline that has never had an accident. P: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement. S: Almost replaced left inside main tire. P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough. S: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft. P: Something loose in cockpit. S: Something tightened in cockpit. P: Dead bugs on windshield. S: Live bugs on back-order. P: Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet per minute descent. S: Cannot reproduce problem on ground. P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear. S: Evidence removed. P: DME volume unbelievably loud. S: DME volume set to more believable level. P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick. S: That's what they're for. P: IFF inoperative. S: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode. P: Suspected crack in windshield. S: Suspect you're right. P: Number 3 engine missing. S: Engine found on right wing after brief search. P: Aircraft handles funny. S: Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be serious. P: Target radar hums. S: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics. P: Mouse in cockpit. S: Cat installed. And the best one for last.................. P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with hammer. S: Took hammer away from midget. Unlucky 13Grandsons football team (Rainham 84)has finally been beaten after an incredible 12 league game unbeaten run. The first game of the season 'Cobham Colts' beat them 4-0 when they played at their home ground, this was the return fixture and Rainham lost 2-4. Rainham still remain at the top of the division so all is not lost. Full report on the match is in (Rainham 84 FC) FiledenJust wanted to express my thanks to Fileden for their file hosting services. I used to use Filelodge but since their site has been down for maintenance (like forever) and doesn't look like returning, I had given up on them and went searching for a new host and found Fileden. I made a family picture movie some time ago and put it in filelodge and then into my media player, it worked, but took ages to load and then would keep stopping to 'rebuffer'. I have found Fileden works so much quicker, although it does depend on what time of day you use it. In the morning, here in the UK, it seems to load almost immediately but get to the evening and it does seem to take more time, this is obviously due to the amount of users Fileden must have, anyway i am pleased with the results so will leave the movie in for a while and would be grateful for any comments on, time to load, whether it plays right through, or even the movie itself, thanks. |
