FameGrand-daughter Rosie ( 6 ) had an early morning start yesterday (Tuesday) she had to be at school by 03.45!! reason being, she had to be in London to appear on GMTV, the Television programme. Rosie is a member of her school choir, which had been invited to appear on the show to sing two carols. London is about 40 miles from my home but they had to get there earlier for all the preparations. The broadcast of daily news and entertainment starts at 6am and continues until 9am.
Video recorder, set and timed to start at 6am, functioned without a hitch and video 'tape' will be stored in a safe place for future blackmail...lol...
Before I 'store' said video tape I ( Proud Grandad ) thought I would try and take a few 'stills' from the recording to place in this blog. Rosie is 2nd from right in the front row and I have also tried to do a few 'close up's', The pics are not of the best quality but if my 'new gadget', that I am hopefully getting for Christmas, works as well as I hope I will be doing a lot of work on this comp transferring video film from at least 20 years back!!!. We have the technology!! all I need is the 'brains' to work it out...lol...
Best wishes and a Merry Christmas to all
Update:--- I have Managed to find a link to the school choir's song. I Have placed the link in ''CLIPS''
( Featherby Infants School Choir)
listed on the left hand side.
If you minimise the song link and focus on the ''telly pics'' it's almost like watching them sing'live'...lol...
Remember to stop Media player before opening link.
Wot a Week!!Wot a Week!!!.... And there was me thinking it was getting easier...lol... Daughter Laura, Partner Lee and 'new Baby' Jess had been staying since Tuesday,,....Direct from hospital. They had asked if they could stay as this was their first baby and I think they just wanted to be close to experience...lol... 'Jess' seems to be doing fine, good set of lungs, although she didn't really overdo testing them, Just enough, now and again, to let us know she was around!! They returned to their own home yesterday (Friday) so peace and tranquility has now been restored at my own household, mind you!! saying that, it didn't seem to be Jess that was causing all the noise and chaos??!!...lol...
No 'Grandson's' Football
Darts gave me a welcome evening break on Wednesday and Thursday, specially as we won both games quite convincingly (Wed 22-1 & Thur 6-0 + 3-0 ) AND!! I earned meself a 'free' beer on both matches
Daughter Kes had her Christmas 'Artistic Roller Skating' party
Best wishes.
New BabyDaughter Laura went into hospital yesterday evening (Monday) because of 'high blood pressure' she was kept in to be monitored during the night and at 3.30 this morning we received a phone call from Laura herself telling us her 'waters' had broke. Another phone call at 7.35am informing me that Baby Jess arrived at 7.25am!! Both Mother and daughter are fine although Laura still has her high blood pressure so is still being 'Monitored'....... Further updates will follow as soon as I, ( Grandad, AGAIN!!
Best wishes to all.
Update:-- Jess was 8 lbs 6 1/2 oz's. Slight complications at birth, cord wrapped round neck and arm was 'up' but Laura seemed to cope with it well, not having any 'gas or air' and going 'natural' . The Doctor had to 'cut' to assist with the untangling of the cord and complimented Laura on how well she handled the pain and stayed very calm.
Baby Jess. Age 1 Hr 15 Minutes
MEDWAY PARKING!!With just a few more presents to buy I thought today would be the ideal day to get down to the shops and get them done.
I found a parking space in the towns car park and parked up,
Having worked my way from one end of the high street to the other looking for the best bargains, spending in the region of £70 to £80, I eventually started to make my way back to my vehicle.
Arms laden with carrier bags, I knew the time was getting close to my 3 hour limit so I got a bit of a 'trot' on but was unable to raise my arm to see the time on my watch
The time on my ticket stated 14.13, Mr 'Hit-man' had wasted no time in writing me out a ticket at 14.26. 13 Bloody minutes!!!
I know 13 is supposed to be an unlucky number but 'come on'!! Cheers mate!! I hope you have a lovely Christmas as well!!.
I had actually managed to get back to my vehicle at 14.31 so was only 5 minutes behind him, there was no sign of Mr 'Hit-man' though!! he had obviously scurried back to his hidden observation post awaiting his next 'hit'.
I was in the parking office as quick as that as it was only just across the road from where my vehicle had been parked.
Producing the said 'Parking Penalty Notice' along with my parking ticket I was expecting a bit of Christmas spirit!!...lol... Fat chance.
After the receptionist had looked at both P P Notice and Parking ticket her first words were ''Do you want to pay now?'' I gave her a look of disbelieve, ''13 Minutes'' I said, pausing to await her reply of, '' OK love, as it's Christmas and we realize how busy the shops are at this time of year we will let you off this time but don't let it happen again,'' HAH!! Fat Chance (again!!).
She replied with '' would you like to appeal against it,?'' ''Wot chance have I got'' I replied, ''well you was over the time sir''. I took this to mean that they were obviously in need of the extra cash after wasting so much money on the disastrous, ridiculous and grid locked two way system introduced last year, (which cost the Medway taxpayer Thousands of pounds,) AND which they decided was going to be the way to regenerate business in the town. So it was either going to be an 'instant £30' fine or a £60 'Appeal refused' fine, did I have much option? NO!! your right,, I paid up.
So much for their attempts to 'regenerate' business in the town coz I for one will be avoiding the town as much as I can, ( which, according to reviews, is what a lot of others are already doing,).
If possible, I will be doing my shopping at the Hempstead Valley shopping centre in future, which is only a little further and has 'FREE' car parking.
Have a lovely Christmas 'Medway Council'
Best wishes BLOGChristmas Decorations are up, Most of the Christmas shopping is done, Just a few more little presents to get. Life seems to be slowing down a little lately, (thank goodness).
Still had a fairly hectic weekend though and hardly any time to get ''On the comp'', I Think I am suffering 'Withdrawal' symptoms...lol....
Daughter Laura and her partner stayed for the weekend as Laura's partners 'Mum' was away for the weekend and as it is Laura's first baby she wants to be close to Family, just in case!! The fact that both, her partners 'Mum', and I, have vehicle's that could be used to run her to the hospital may also be a factor...lol... seems as though baby Jess, after being 'side ways on'', has now turned the right way again (back to back) and is due any day now. They left for home this evening but I am on call for the 'taxi' service to the hospital if there is any sign, she Say's she prefers my driving...lol...!!!
There is also another 'Driver' in the family now, Wayne, my brother-in-law in the Army, has finally managed to pass his driving test
Kes continues with her 'Artistic Roller Skating', no new grade's achieved lately but she continues to enjoy her skating so that is the main thing, The 'Christmas party on skates' is next week so that will be something to look forward to.
Darts were a mixed emotion this week, A good win on Wednesday against a 'top' team gave me a 'free beer'
Thats about it,, can't think of 'owt' else.
Best Wishes. Sad LossA sad bit of news. I wrote a little while back about the neighbour I went to help as he had fallen and couldn't get up, Unfortunately he was taken into hospital the next day and it was found his 'cancer' had spread very fast. When he was first diagnosed, about 3 months ago, he was told he could possibly survive about 6 months to a year, alas it wasn't to be and he passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday just gone. As neighbours go he was quite good, always willing to help when he could and often trusting me to look after his house ( as we did him ) when he, or we, were away on holidays and the like. He will be a big loss and my thoughts and sympathy go out to his wife and family. Wot a Result!!Loads of Christmas shopping and getting the 'decs' ready to put up created another hectic week, no peace for the wicked as they say.
Still no news on Daughter Laura's baby 'Jess' arriving although I have been told, ( not that I know anything about having babies,??) that mother and baby need to be 'back to back' for easiest birth, it seems like 'Jess' has decided to turn sideways just to complicate things a little so they are hoping that she will turn back again soon.
Brother-in-law Wayne arrived home from Army training on Friday to stay for the weekend, passing his Driving test is proving a bit difficult at the moment, one or two bits he needs to practise on, 'including his nerves'. I remember taking mine many, (many...lol...) years ago, A very 'nerve racking' experience!!! (for everyone else on the road on that day as well) but, lucky for me, most of the horse and carts pulled out of the way...lol...
On to darts-- Two wins, 13-10 Wednesday and 4-2 Team & 2-1 Doubles Thursday. Only 1 free beer though coz I lost me singles on Wednesday
Now on to the best bit.... Footy--- We won!!!
Best Wishes To All |
