The Army Trainee

Wayne, my young brother-in-law is eager for me to write a blog about him. He has recently joined the junior army training centre at Bassingbourne barracks in Royston, Hertfordshire. The initial training is for 14 weeks, these first 14 weeks are to teach them how to be a British soldier. then they will enter into phase 2 training which trains them for their chosen profession in the army.
At the time of writing this blog he has only been gone about 3 weeks but the emptiness he has left behind is incredible, everything seems so quite and it is eerie not having him shouting and banging about, it feels like he has been gone forever. he will be 17 at the end of this month and will not be here for his birthday as time out of training is not allowed for those sort of things, both my daughter and myself miss him terribly.
He keeps in touch with texting and the odd letter (the texting is costing me a fortune...lol...). but that doesn't stop us worrying about him all the time. I have not tried to influence his decision to join the army one way or the other as it is his life and he must lead it as he See's fit, if he finds that it is what he wants then fair play to him although I will miss him so much, if he decides that it is not for him at least he will have had a go and experienced what it is like.
A parents/family day has been arranged for the second week in February and I will definitely be going to attend, it is to help parents gain an understanding of the training that they are currently undertaking, although I am not Wayne's parent he has been living with myself and my family for the past 3 years and I have looked after him on my own for the past 2 years and have grown to love him as a son and obviously want the best for him, he has not had an easy life but he has come through all the trials and tribulations with remarkable strength and he is to be much  admired for that. Whatever decision he makes at the end or during this course of training will be fine with me as long as he is happy with his own decision,, I wish him well.  Luv ya Wayne.

Cold Weather

I have recently read in the newspaper that during this  cold spell we are having you should check and look after your neighbours,,  well my neighbour is 86 years old and she has never once popped round to see if i am ok, and she's a right lazy moo as well, she hasn't taken her milk in for at least two weeks.

Unbeaten 11 Games

Rainham lost their winning streak of 10 league games, but continue with an 11 league game unbeaten streak after the second placed team held them to a 1-1 draw. 8 Points clear at the top of the 2nd division puts them in with a good chance of the championship,, keep it up lads..keep reaching for that trophy.

Tenacious Football

Grandson's footy team '' Rainham 84 '' just don't know how to concede defeat anymore, they have just increased their league game winning streak to 10 games without loss after playing their closest rivals and second placed team ''Wigmore Youth''. Although going a goal down in the first half they fought back and achieved a 2-1 win.  For full match report see,,,,,    ''Rainham 84 F C'' >>>>>>>>>>
What a Tenacious team,,  Well  done the ''Top of the League'' lads........
